Junior Nick Eley (Pickerington, Ohio) added an insurance goal in the 57th, taking a deflection off a Defiance defender and finishing past the keeper.

Junior goalkeeper Dylan Beck (Wharton, Ohio) recorded his second shutout in as many games, registering one save en route.

Capital held the Yellow Jackets (0-6) to eight shots while attempting 18 of its own. The Crusaders also held a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Capital has seven days off before returning to action Saturday, Sept. 22, against defending NCAA Division III champion Ohio Wesleyan. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Bernlohr Stadium.
